The bulls are looking good. The NILB Bull Trial is back on the Kaimais to the care of graziers, Limax Enterprises. Dianna and Richard Maxwell ran the trial for two years on the same property up until the 2018 trial. The bulls are growing well and have settled in nicely. Some bulls are close to 600kg with the highest weight gain since October, over 1.5kg per day.
With seven breeders putting entries into the trial, the range of genetics on show is probably the widest the trial has seen. Junior PP is a new to NZ AI sire on offer. Other AI genetics include Morrisvale Lumberjack, WZRK Double Wide, B Bar Slate, Meriden Poll Heavy Duty, Mandayen Vision, Ionesco, Glencairn York, Mangatara 271K.
NZ Genetics include Snake Gully Major, Mangatara 533, Mangatawhiri Henri, Kivlean Languedoc, Glencairn Major, Ngarimu Noble.
The seven breeders are:, Steven Dance (Springfalls), Julie Evans( Grayleen), Robert Hunt (Huntlands), Rob Johnstone (Glencairn), Peta Lean (Kivlean), Bruce Polley (Secret Falls), Erik and Lynn Van der Velden (Mangatara).
Frank Rientjes has continued as Bull Trial Convenor.
