The 28th Annual Snake Gully Sale was held on the 14th of June on farm at Maungakaramea. The weather the previous day was wet, cold and winds up to 120 kmph however, although the wind was still present, the rain held off for Sale Day. The weather did not deter a good crowd that gathered to purchase and enjoy the hospitality following the sale.
Top price of $9000.00 went to Lot 6 Snake Gully Rocky, a full French son of Hirohito out of the dam Snake Gully Jackie, a Wilodge Cerberus daughter. Rocky was one of 3 sons by Hirohito available for the first time in NZ. He was purchased by Colin Phillips of Fern Hill Stud in Tuatapere, Southland.
Second highest of $8000.00 was Lot 1 Snake Gully Rambo, a homo polled, homo black son of TMF Courage 41E out of the imported embryo dam Snake Gully Gracie a black Wulfs Realtor 1503R/Premier Temptress Z16 daughter. Rambo was purchased by Waikura Station for commercial use over their herd of 1600 angus breeding cows and heifers. Waikura Station purchased 4 of the 6 black bulls on offer. It is the most remote Station in NZ from a main centre, and situated on the East Coast, 3 hours drive from Gisbourne.
Selling 18/18 bulls with an average price of $53280.00 was up $1300.00 on last year’s average.
Although Dannie was not with us this year, we feel he would have been very proud of the result and all the many years that he and Bethley had put into genetics had resulted in a successful sale.
